My boyfriend and I had just gotten our first fish, 2 danios and 2 dalmation mollies. Exactly a week later, he was cleaning the sides of the tank, and there was some scum floating around. Then we noticed that some of the 'scum' had purposeful movements-there were babies in there! So we ran right over to the LFS and got ourselves a breeder net and resued as many as we could-7. I saw one of them eaten by a danio right before my eyes (those guys will eat anything that floats in front of them!) The babies were doing ok in the net, but we decided to get them their own 10 gallon tank so they could swim free without getting eaten. I would count them every day to make sure they were all there, and after a while, there were only 4. we did find a dead one in a decoration, and my bf and I decided to change the gravel to smaller rocks, because we thought maybe that one got stuck. So he took out all the gravel and put it in a bucket with a little water, and he sees this little white thing moving around> it's one of the babies! We think it got trapped under the gravel and was freed during the move. So he put it in the tank with the rest-he's definitly smaller than the rest. so my bf looks through the rocks some more and finds another baby in the gravel, still alive, but he didn't survive.:( We have named the other one 'Lucky' and for a while after he was freed, he would do this'happy dance' in the tank-head straight up, and kinda moving side to side. The babies are now about 5 months old, they have some spots now and Lucky is bigger than one of the other babies now.

I just thought I would share. :D

Even after fifteen years of in depth involvement in this hobby, these stories still make me smile. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

.Just to share...
My first foray into guppies when I was a teenager and my sister was about 14. She calls me at work having a fit because the guppies had babys and the other fish were eating them. She ended up catching a bunch and put them in a jar until I got home. Absolutely cracked me up:D
