A while back I had picked up some free MTS from petsmart because I was putting a Bumblebee Gobie in a small tank and wanted something to eat algae and waste.

The BB Gobie did not make it and passed away and I have since converted the tnak to fresh water.

I now have a Dwarf Puffer in there and was told to remove the MTS so he will not break his teeth on them.

I have 3 larger ones and a bunch of babies that I don't know what to do with.

I have way too many Mystery snails in my other 2 planted tanks.

SHould I crush them? I feel kind of bad doing that, I was hoping to use them for food at fist :(

Trade them, Sell them, Give them away. I'm sure you find a way to get rid of them, Besides crushing that is.

MTS = Malaysian Trumpet Snails.
They have a very hard shell, and have been known to break the teeth of puffer fish. That is why justintoxicated is trying to remove them.

Clown loaches and red tailed sharks both love Malaysian livebearing snails. Because they live and breed (prolifically) in the gravel, in my opinion it is almost impossible to eradicate them from a tank without using a species-specific predator.

yea I am removing them as I see them and I'm planning to change the substrate soon to floourite.

Luckily they are kind of easy to identify in the crushed coral I have in there now. Problem with the crushed coral is that it does not hold plants down too well :rolleyes:

I pulled a bunch more out last night around 1 am,

They seem to come out of the gravel at night. But for now I am just putting them in a plastic container with water in it...Dunno what I'm going to do with them. I was thinking to toss them in my 10 gallon, but I don't knwo if I want an infestation of them.

My puffer ate small MTS' without a problem. I think the small ones which would be optimal for a dwarf would not be a problem.
