So we rescued a Crown Tail from those horrid little bowls and gave him a 5 gallon hex. I put a big plant in the center for him, the kind that looks like very tall grass. It seems he likes to either hide or sleep in there. The first time I saw him it gave me a heart attack because I thought he was dead. Thankfully I was wrong. He is swimming around quite happily now and eating well, no sign of illness. Is it normal behavior for them to hide or sleep inside plants? I'm talking burrowing himself right in there...

Yup, mine sleeps in the plants I keep in the tank.

That's perfectly normal. My betta even wedges himself into cracks in his driftwood sometimes. It's a wonder he doesn't get stuck! :X
