Hi! Can i mix a bala shark w/ my 2 mollies & 3 platys in a 10gal? Is this balashark aggressive? What about a rainbow shark? If i throw in some ghost shrimp will it be eaten by the mollies & platys? Pls advice.

Please don't put a Bala Shark in a 10 gallon tank. They prefer to be with their own kind and they grow very large. We have 3 juveniles in our 75 gallon but even that is technically too small. Our next tank is going to be a 180 gallon which is where they really need to be.

Bala sharks get huge, I have heard 75 gallons is the minimum tank they should be in. A rainbow shark will also get too large for a 10g you would probably need AT LEAST 20 gallons for one of those. As far as the ghost shrimp go, they might become food maybe not, but since they are so cheap..I wouldnt worry too much about it. I throw a couple dozen in my 55 gallon every few months and something is eating them.

Unfortunately there isn't much with the name "shark" that you can put in a 10 gallon tank.

I would look at maybe adding a couple of small catfish to fill out the tank, like cory catfish or an upside down catfish.

Ghost shrimp should be able to stay away from mollies and platies, assuming they have a hiding spot. But they are cheap so if they do get eaten at least it won't cost you too much.
