My tank...thoughts?

So I figured I should post a picture of my tank to really be a member of this little community. It is newly renovated. Used to have a couple cheesy ornaments and almost no (fake) plants. My guppies and platies did not appreciate it the lack of cover. I found the rocks at the local beach (scrubbed and boiled, of course), and I have some driftwood soaking for up front. There is no light (obviously). I had an incandescent hood, but the fish shied away from it. I'll get a low-temp flourescent one sooner or later. So tell me what you think! Will the driftwood be too much?

Are you happy with it? It's your creation and your work of art so do with it what ever you please. I think it looks fine.
 
i agree it looks nice to me, it's better than mine lol, i find it easier for my adf's and cories not to meantion ghost shrimp to find food with less problems with a bare-bottom tank
 
Maybe I can't see correctly, but is that a speaker the 10 gal tank is sitting on? It looks like 1/4 th of the tank is extending past any support, on the left and right sides? Even if there is a board under there, that I can not see, the board should have full support, IMO.
 
It is a speaker, and unfortunately its the only place I have for the tank at the moment. I'm trying to find something to stick under the ends but haven't found the right height yet.
 
No, its fine. :thm: I could full on kick the thing and all it would do is slosh some water on the floor. My worry is that if I leave it like that, the bottom glass that isn't supported will get too stressed and crack.

Thanks for confirming...now I won't go get my eyes checked. You should worry about the cracking...10 gal have very thin glass and you have about 50% or less with support. 10 gal @ 8 lbs per gallon, plus the 2-3" of gravel, 15 lbs (?), plus decorations is a lot to place on thin glass where only 50% is supported. The area you have chosen to support the weight is equivalent to the pane of glass in a standard 8x12 picture frame.
Please get something sooner, vice later, even if it is just a piece or 3/4" plywood to support the whole tank even if it is still on the speaker. Maybe sacrifice some kitchen counter top or a dresser?
 
Is the best thing for moving it just to drain most of the water so it can be lifted? By the way, I know it isn't an excuse, but the picture is deceiving. 65-70% of the tank is supported by the speaker.
