I have a 30 gallon tank that has been set up for several months. The water params are:

Temp: 76 degrees F
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5 ppm
Ph: 7.0

Inhabitants:
6 Male guppies
1 female platy
2 male platies
2 peppered cory cats
2 oto cats
Red Cherry Shrimp

I have noticed both the guppies and platies flashing occasionally. This has become more frequent recently. I am thinking of treating this tank with PraziPro which is supposed to be gentle (according to most goldfish people).

I am wondering if anyone has treated their tropicals with this? I will remove the cherry shrimp prior to treatment but I am concerned about the dosage and whether or not to use this on my fish, particularly the oto cats.

Any help is MOST appreciated.

Prazipro is the most gentle medication you can ever use in your tank. Prazipro will turn white when you dose it but it will vanish rather quickly soon after. I dose once on day 1 and again on day 4 following the directions to completely eradicate flukes and their offspring. Skin flukes die instantly since they are live bearers but gill flukes need 2 treatments to completely eradicate. Prazi is so gentle that a baby 1.5 inch goldfish could consume an entire droncit (prazi) pill (meant for humans) and not be affected.

Thanks for the info!

Would you treat the oto cats and neons at the same dosage? Have you used the Prazi on tropicals before? Some people are telling me to use Formalin/Malachite green...but I really hate that toxic stuff! And it has melted my plants in the past.

Don't worry, I treated my tetras will full strength and they did not even notice it. Neither did my shark. Formalin + Malachite green won't kill flukes at the dosages you will be using it at. Prazi pro is harmless and kills flukes.

THANK YOU! You make a lot of sense.

I really appreciate your advice. I'll post when treatment is complete.

Thanks again!
