betta water?!?!?!

oh yes i know, but let me tell u something more stupid. me and my friend went to a petco and she is such a ditz that she wandered off in the store. all i know is that she found this betta water and her small brain thought it was water for us humans that she just opened and started drinking it. i found out because i heard her complaining that "This water taste nasty, How can they sell this!" LOL. God she gonna kill me, that im telling this story.

but the point is that this water should not be sold, its useless and its bad for those dumbwits like my friend that dont know any better :sim: .

:thud: :rant2:

it's suposedly RO water, water that is free from most minerals and will leech calcium from you fish's bones and probably has almost NO buffering capacity,so PH swings are pretty much gonna happen for sure. AND, you don't need it, tap water is better.

EDIT: I looked at the link, it IS RO water, don't use it.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong except for the fact of them leading to the assumption that bettas don't need filtration.... other than that, I think it's a silly idea but probably something that people that may not know any better might find as a great idea...

It is just RO water that is bottled. I think you guys may be overreacting a bit on it.

Well, the ad said betta bowl bowl bowl. Nothing at all about a tank. That should tell you something about the product right there. Put your "happy" betta back in his bowl. Grrrr.....

I was first amused cause someone was actually going to be conned by the whole thing. That they would spend the $$ for something we can get from the tap for free. Stupid ppl get what they deserve in that respect. Then I read the blurb about it.

I was really mad cause it insinuates that all the water you need is in that little bottle and it will happily fill a little bowl for your little fish.

THen I was mad that they would have THAT product and not the necessary product I was looking for.

Their info about how it is better than tap for those reasons was just idiotic.- I confess I didn't research all the reasons why they claime it is better, but basically, my theory on life is that you try to emulate it's natural environment to the best of your ability. I don't see bettas put themselves up in bubblers...

Oh and finally upon rereading, it says that with that product you need to change the water less often...which probably doesn't happen all that often in the first place among those who would actually buy it.

I am more sad at the assumptions ppl will make in the care for their betta based on the instructions and claims that water makes.

Great story about your friend thinking it was human bottled water!!!

I guess the thing about betta's is they are a labyrinth fish(special organ that allows them to breathe air directly from the surface).

the thing that bugs me most: the fish is tropical..but I see so many kept in cool drafty locations..

yeah they can breath surface air but still need to be housed in an environment suitable for tropical fish.

bottled betta water is a gimmick and isn't necessary..
