stowaway plant/weed?

I recently ordered some new plants and looks like I've got a stowaway, any idea what this is?
it's the green "thread" thats wrapped around what I think is Rotala Magenta

Can't tell you what it is, but a pon I go fishing in, central Illinois has this plant. That might help you ID it.
