I have a tank that has been pretty stable, community wise, but the last couple of months there have been some changes.
I have 37 Gallon planted. I have 2 marble koi angels who are about 1 1/2 years old. I have 3 clown loaches (only 2 1/2 inches at this time, I know they will get big and will rehome them soon also) who annoy everyone with their touchy feely but no one seems to mind to do anything about it. I love their antics. I have a Gold Ram and 2 rosey barbs and 4 ottos. All of these I have had for more than a year. A while back I got 2 killie fish who were fine for more than a month then I came home to find the male riding around the aquarium by holding on to a very frantic angels top fin. I immediately put the pair in a breeding net. I have a great lfs who would take them back, unfortunately the male continued his rampage and killed the female. I felt so bad!
So they are gone.
The pair of angels has decided to lay eggs, but guard them a bit then eat them. The last time they ate them as soon as they laid each egg so I doubt I will ever see any wigglers from them. When this is happening they chase everybody but haven't done any harm. The barbs are the worst as they are very aggressive about getting their share of yummy angel eggs too! Well, the last few days the barbs have been chasing the angels around who are not fighting back. They are not hurting the angels, just chasing them. They turn sideways and sometimes I find them in the corner. So I have decided the barbs have to go as I don't have room in this aquarium to add the more optimum school of 6.
My water parameters are ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20, and ph 7.8
This was a long way of saying what could I add to add interest to this tank? Any suggestions? I do weekly water changes of about 30%.
I was thinking some harlequins or a pearl gourami but don't know if the gourami would conflict with the angels.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions!
Thanks!
