HI -
I have a rectangular 10 gallon:

3 hatchets
4 glass catfish
1 sm algae eater

What vacuum brand do you recommend?

Should I consider how long the tube line is if I'd prefer to set my used water bucket on the floor instead of a chair?

I have black gravel in the bottom so I like to keep it clean - it starts to look icky if food is left in the tank. I'm being super careful to feed the right amount - but I'm new so I'm prone to mistakes. :(

Try a python many people swear by those. Anything will do though and it really doesn't matter with that small of a tank. Also those fish you have there will get too big for your tank.

One more thing, You know you are supposed to change between 30-50% weekly right.

HI - Thanks for the info.

I hope to get a bigger tank soon. I made that common mistake of thinking I'd start small and work my way to a bigger tank - :duh: - only to read later that a bigger tank is easier to balance as far as chemicals etc.

I think a python would be overkill for a tank that small. I would just go with the cheapest gravel vac you can find. After all, they are just a couple of plastic tubes. Walmart tends to have the cheapest ones and I would buy one that has a 6in gravel tube. That is the larger tube. That is what I use on my 10g. Takes me about 10-20 mins to do a 75% water change. If you do get a larger tank, then I would look into a python. You hook that up directly to your tap and it actually keeps you from having to use a bucket at all. The cheapest I have found one of those is 30.00. I still need to buy one for my 55g lol.

Dyson ;)

Thanks friends! :hi: I did find a Python - very small model at Pet Co for 8 bucks!

This morning - it worked like a charm! I'd feel more confident with a larger bucket - but hey- any brand of that will do!! THANKS AGAIN!!
