K Guys I Hope I Did Not Over Stock My 10 Gal.here It Is
4 Tiger Barbs
Grammies
2 Molly's
1 Algae Eater
Is It 1 Fish Per Gallon?i Was Hopping To Add 4 Neon Tetra What Do You Think?

What kind of algae eater? With what you have listed I would not add any more fish. What kind of molly? you may be overstocked already.

Marinemom

If you are not a tree huger and do not have a problem to swap/sell/trade fish
when they grow.If you like to watch juvinile fish and how they do with
eachother and behavior than do it up. REMEMBER the more fish in your tank the
harder you must work to ceap a helthy tank.

IMO tiger barbs shouldn't be kept in less than a 30g tank and they need to be in large schools to lessen aggression. They can also grow 3" if they live long enough. Expect them to get to 2" in about 3-4 months.

What is a "grammy"?

Please do not use the inch per gallon "rule". It's not an adequate guideline; it's not even a guideline IMO.

At this point, with the tigers alone, your tank is overstocked.

Roan

roan art is right the inch per gallon is not right...........

You are overstocked. Lose the tiger barbs for sure, you need at least a 30 or 40 for them. Grammies? Maybe Gouramis? What kind? Dwarf? Honey? Blues?

One fish per gallon is worse than one inch per gallon.

Is this a new tank?
Did you do a proper cycle of the water?
What are your test parameters on Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate?
Do you have a test kit?

Guys, I think derecola said "one fish per gallon" which is really bad. That means 10 fish, plus a few extras for "overcrowding."

Personally I wouldn't take advice from someone that spells "keep" as "ceap"

Yes, its overstocked.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm dealing with trolls or n00bs.

And TorturedSoul, it seems like spelling and grammar are becoming less and less important online.

I've read numerous times in numerous threads that the 1" per gallon rule is not accurate, so can anyone really say what is a decent guideline to go by? I have a 37 gallon tall, and here is what I have in it. No problems at all, and it's been set up about 3-4 months....

5 Long-Finned Blue Danios
4 Tetras (sorry, not sure what kind)
3 Albino Cory Cats
1 Male Betta
6 Assorted Platys
1 Snail (Golden Apple I believe)
1 African Dwarf Frog

Everyone seems happy as can be, and they all get along well enough aside from the usual playful chasing evey now and then. I have no problems with the water, water changes, ph levels, ammonia, nitrites/nitrates, etc... Am I overstocked? Is there a decent guideline to follow, or is it on a tank by tank basis?
