So I'm in the process of cycling my 80g and I have no fish in their yet, just a large piece of drift wood and some Java moss that I took from my other tank to help seed the new one.
Well the problem is that the large piece of wood is now growing what looks to be mold on it. It's a white fuzzy looking web growing on different spots of the wood. What should I do about this, I've never had this happen to me. I didn't get to really soak the wood because it was too large for even the tub, but it has been washed and cleaned previously.
Will this stuff go away on it's own, will it harm my cycle and/or fish?? Should I try to wipe it off, add tea tree oil to kill the bacteria??
Any help on this would be great!!!!

I had the exact same stuff, and so did many of the members here at one point. I really can't tell you what it is (i have no idea) but everyone including me who have had this stuff on their driftwood just gave it a few weeks and it was gone. It cleared up in about a week and a half for me, and I'm very sure its harmless, since the inhabitants of one of my tanks (lemon tetras and a rubberlip pleco) live throughout its duration.

Man, that makes me feel a lot better. THANKS!!! It's all about the waiting game now until my cycle is finished. Thanks again!!
