Heyya folks. I was curious about doing the FW bath for new arrivals before they go into my tank. Just how low should I lower the SG to and for how long? I know I know, I'm working on a full Q-tine system!;) Thanks though.

FW dips are typically done with, um... freshwater :)
SG=1.0
Just make sure you match the pH and temp.

IMHO a freshwtaer dip for new arrivals is not a good idea. The fish will already be under stress due to all the travel and acclimation it went through just to get to the lfs. I would recommend setting up a quarantine tank that matches your display tanks water parameters and putting the fish into quarantine for a couple of weeks for observation. If you spot any illness during quarantine, you can treat it without subjectiong your display tank to the illness. JMHO

I'm with Brian, and don't do this myself. But how long would depend on the fish. Some can barely tolerate a FW dip at all, while others can go 5 minutes without much issue. A q-tank would be a much better way to go to prevent introducing disease to your system.
