Tetras & Ick????!!

I think 2 of my tetras have ick, I have put one of them that looks like he's dying in a quarentine tank w/ aeration and put 1 drop of "ick cure" into it ... i dont know if this is going to help or not but worth a shot. I am worried ... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

turn up the heat a little in there, get a little more surface aggitation (to get more oxygen in there). Id put the other ill one in the quarantine tank too.

Make sure you read the directions on the "ich cure" to know how much exactly to put in. Remember, most cures will ask you to take out any zeolite filter and UV filters.

Do not increase the heat in the tank unless the medication specifically says that you can.

Many ich meds contain malachite green. Malachite green (victoria green, aniline green and many other names) becomes more toxic at higher temperatures. Tetras are sensitive to malachite green as well.

You will have to treat both tanks for ich now. The ich isn't just on the fish, it's in the substrate of your main tank as well.

I suggest treatment with salt + heat instead of medications. Here is an article on ich and treatments:
