For the last several months I knew this day was coming. It's been a slow downhill slide for my poor little fish. He started laying on his side sometimes but as soon as I would put my hand in the tank I would see him dart off. I bought him right after I got out of the air force in 98, a couple coryadora anneus. The other lasted a few years then disappeared. After the other one died i figured i had better get him a new friend so i bought some albino's and he schooled with them. The trio eventually turned into a duo, but the two were constant companions so i never replaced the other. Then came my fishes worst foe and arch nemesis...my cat Tazz...i found the albino on the floor the apparent victim of a cat napping. After watching my cory sulk and begin laying on his side i purchased him "godzilla" a 4inch cory from my lfs. It seemed to breathe new life into him. Suddenly he was all over the tank for awhile, swimming side by side with Godzilla, still sometimes I would find him laying on his side. Last night i found him tangeled in some plants three times...this morning he's laying belly up on the bottom of the tank..his breathing shalllow. Going to be weird not having him in the tank...he's always been there ever since I got reinterested in aquariums in 98.

8 years. Wow. I'm really sorry that you are about to lose your cory, fishyaddict  I can't even imagine how that must feel.

My corys are not that old, but I'm already very attached to them. They are quite the characters!

Eight years in an excellent age and you should be proud you were able to provide him a long and happy life and that he lived out to his potential under your care.

I feel for ya..I have 4 that have been everywhere....They're the nomads of my tanks because they're the only guys that seem to get alone with everyone....They've lives with the crazy gourami, the community, the mbuna for a month or 2....Those guys have some of the best personality in any fish...

**May "F.B." lie in peace**
So Dave had to leave yesterday to go out of town for work for a few days, but I guess while I was at work he found him passed away. After 8 years, only a proper burial could do... he was buried in our yard before he left town.

Thanks for all the condolences. Makes you realize how special these fish can get.

Tricia

reminds me of when my very first pet fish, a betta named finny, died of old age.
if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be in this hobby. well, he's in a better place now, swimming with the cloud fishes. :(

Sorry about your loss! I haven't even been in this hobby for that long. The only one that has been with me for the duration of my fish keeping has been my Blackbelt Cichlid, which can last up to about 15 years, so it will be a sad day when he goes too.

By the way, that 21 bubble salute was an awsome idea!
