I've found someone who's selling a 75 gallon aquarium with an oak stand and oak canopy for only $250. I'm really tempted to pick it up except they say there's a small chip on the back of the glass. If it was a crack, I'd say no right away. Should I say no right away for just a chip on the glass?

i have a tank with a 'chip' in the corner that hasn't leaked in ten years. i'd say .. have the guy fill it up and check it out for leaks for maybe an hour. or - buy it with the option to return it if you find it does leak after a few days? there's no way to tell in advance.

I'd buy it. You can always repair the chip or silicone it over. Park a plant over it and you wouldn't be able to tell its even there. Thats too good of a price to let it go in my opinion.

The price is good for sure. I'm more concerned that the crack might affect the integrity of the tank.

A chip (as long as it isnt big) is normally ok. As a general rule: the lower down the worse, unless its actually a --> small <-- one on the corner (which will probably be ok) Another rule is as long as it has got at least 3/4 of the glass remaining there (no deeper) it should be ok.

If nothing else, the stand and canopy are worth that much imo if they are in great shape.
