Do you guys think that it is required to add air bubbles to the tank using an external air pump? If so, is it better to supply the tank with big or small air bubbles? Please note that I do not have a skimmer in my tank....

Also, how does one can tell when there is not enough oxygen in the tank?

5x+ turnover per hour via power filters and power heads is what you need, not an airstone. Personally I prefer not to put any thing that looks unatural and is'nt there to support my tank(such as airstones) because of where most marine fish come from(the ocean). It's bad enough your enclosing your fish in a small glass box let alone all these wierd airstone things.

The marine environment is full of micro bubbles created by wave action. One reason you don't want to add any air bubbles is to reduce any kind of salt creep. Air bubbles in themselves are not detrimental just not very pleasing and the micro ones seem to stay suspended in the water column too long. As stated just make sure you have enough water turnover and that there is some surface agitation to assist gas exchange and you will be fine.
