Hi, I have had an orange tree sponge in my tank for about 9 months and it is not looking the way it used to. I really know nothing about sponges execpt that you are sopposed to keep them away from the light and they are filter feeders. I feed mine for about 30 mins once a month. I did not want to put too much food in there, but is this enough? Can some one please tell me how these guys really need to be cared for?
Thanks, Jacob

P.S. I just got another one, looks like a fan. Do I care for it the same way?

Assuming that your second one is a sponge and not a gorgonian ("seafan"), treat them the same.

I would feed the sponge more often. Target feed 2-3x per week if you can without sending nutrient levels out of control, and direct some light current towards it to prevent algae overgrowth. Can you be more specific on what about it has changed??
