I'm new to the fish scene and I'm about to go out to buy a tank.
Obviously not all tanks are created equal. Are there any brands that I should consider or stay clear of? This is for a 29 gallon tank.
Thanks.

Can't go wrong with either Oceanic or All-Glass.
Just stay away from "store-brands" like Petsmart has. Also, Perfecto's haven't held up for me very long. They started leaking after a few years and I had to re-seal them (PITA).

Ditto on the above post. I've been working at an LFS for 2 and 1/2 years, and we've had three tanks returned. One was an Oceanic, and two were an All Glass (one from me), but I'd say those two definantly are very good brands. Besides, if it cracks and puts a hole throw your floor (based on a true story) you can just sue, then get a bigger tank!:D

Pretty much everyone is going to say All- glass and oceanic.

I own a number of tanks and most are either All-Glass or Perfecto. (A couple I bought used and I don't know who made them.)
The All-Glass seem a bit better made, but my Perfecto tanks have all held up just fine. If tanks sit on a very stable, level base, it's very atypical for them to develop leaks.
If I had the option of getting a new tank and there was no difference in cost, I'd get an All-Glass over Perfecto. If I could save $20-25 by going with Perfecto, I wouldn't hesitate doing that.

Acrylliac tanks are great, they cost more but here in CA you never know when the big one will hit and shake youre house :D Just be careful when cleaning the tank cause a acrylliac tank will scratch easier than glass. BTW I have a seaclear tank.
