Hey guys...

I was at a pet store, and they reccommended picking a day out of the week and never feeding my fish on that day. They said it helps protcect against swim baldder infections and constipation. I also read the same thing in "aquariums for dummies". They didnt mantion the swim bladder infection but they did say it was ideal not to feed them one day out of the week...

Any opinions on this?

Thank you in advance...

It is true that fish don't need to be fed every day (and certainly not the 3 or 4 times daily the food directions recommend). I usually do as much flake food as they can take in about 30 seconds once daily and a couple of small sinking shrimp pellets every other day for the corys. The fish look great and the tank stays nice and clean. I say do whatever works for you and the fish.

Thats true, it will help, but PLEASE, do not do this with grazers or marine fish who are eating all day. You should also be feeding fresh foods, such as, any vegetable or fruit your fish will eat, frozen fish foods, table shrimp and other seafoods(just be carefull here to feed the fresh fish saltwater seafood, saltwater fish freshwater seafood, this way you won't have any risk of disease being introduced via feeding). As long as it isn't cooked or seasoned, you should feed almost anything you would and many things you wouldn't eat to your fish.
