I have recently gone through ich in my tank and have finally gotten rid of it. My only problem now is I have a gourami that has been very lethargic. He just sits on the bottom of the tank or in corners. I was wondering if this is an infection due to the damage the ich did, or if it is something else. My other fish are doing fine now and I only lost one other gourami to ich.

A secondary infection sounds likely; it may have come in at the same time as the ich, but didn't grab hold visibly until the damage from the ich or the stress of the ich treatment. I had the same problem--ich didn't kill any, but I lost 2 danios and 4 neons to dropsy during and after treatment. (Note the understocked tank in my sig!)

It would be a very good idea to quarantine the gourami. If he's still eating, you can try an antibacterial food; Jungle makes one. In my case, I got the Jungle antibacterial late in the game and fed it to all the survivors. It may have been just a protective measure at that point, but all my surviving fish look very good now.

Are his gills moving fast like he's in shock at all?
What are your stat level's in the tank?
Is he eating okay?

hello there, i understand that ur treatment is over...

but is there still salt in the water? if yes then do some h2o changes to lessen the salt concentration... but this is if ur treatment is really over or finished k?

i think some fish become lethargic or have difficulty breathing when there is some amount of salt added in the water

:dive:

Well, he's dead now. Thanks for the help, but it was too late. The rest of the fish are fine so I think it was an infection caused by the ich.
