I know about a couple of the better stores in the Nashville area, but with that good reputation comes a higher price tag. My wife and I are interested in getting some more expensive fish soon and want to get the most bang for our buck. We're specifically looking at Discus which seem to run $40+.

Ideally, we'd love to find someone that breeds fish themselves and would be willing to sell to us directly.

Thanks

finally, someone here lives in the same area as i do!

the two stores that i buy from are Emerald Bay and Petco off of highway 70, but ive not done too much looking around to find some of the other smaller stores around my area... there is another store opening off of harding woods (another name for post road) and Harding road intersection in the galeria that has subway and La Peep in it, all there is right now though is a sign... i dont know when that fish store will open...

also as quality goes, emerald bay is nice, but the Aquatic Critter off of Nolensville road has the best selection of fish and plants as well as the high quality of a small LFS...

gl and have fun with your new 50 gal...

If you are going to make the serious commitment to keep discus, then you should buy your fish directly from a very experienced breeder. The best ones will ship them directly to you and you will be getting guaranteed quality stock.

These fish are very sensitive and I would not want my new discus spending any time in a fish store aquarium, nor would I want to spend a lot of money on sub-standard quality specimins.

You'll save money and get better quality by cutting out the middleman when buying discus.
