Hopefully this is the right place to ask this question.

During summer months I've noticed my tanks tend to drop water level more quickly, from evaporation, and not along ago it effected the flourescent tank light (in a smaller tank.)

One light was actually rusted into its socket from the water and I had to by a new hood.

My question is does anyone have recommendations of external lights to use for ambiance. I like to keep the tanks well lit for guests as well as kids to have some enjoyment. My concern are finding lights that won't be to harsh on the fish yet light and accent the tank environment.

Thanks for any advice, direction, or input.

why not just buy a cheap condensation tray? Clearseal makes ones to fit all types of tank.

Thanks jwddboy, that's probably the most rational thing to do. The smaller tank that had the rusted bulb had a built in tray ever around the light fixture to protect it from moisture. It just didn't work.

It may be the way to go with the larger tank.

I was also wondering if anyone may have some cool ideas for ligthing. I'm always looking for a way to show off. :D

Waterproof widebeam LEDs? Makesure they are widebeam though or they look silly, dont light the tank properly and stress out the fish more. You can also get them in a variety of colours which is a bonus.

I'll check into that, varying colors sound pretty good. Again, thanks bunches for the input. :)
