just curious. But do you think I could keep a fuzzy dwarf lionfish on its own in a 20gallonHigh tank? It'd be the only fish in there with some live rock and a sandy bottom. If not, what size tank would I be looking for a Fuzzy dwarf lion?

once it got bigger, you would need a large tank. a 29-30 is the least i would go.

They stay rather small and yes it could be in the 20gal tank IF it didn't produce a lot of waste. Somewhere around 30 gal would be fine. What's your filtration on your tank?

filtration is an emperor biowheel 280, and the liverock.

Yeah you're gonna need more filtration. Do you have plans for upgrading?

Not sure yet. As of now the tank has been running for about 6 months with 2 clownfish and a blenny in it. Nothing special. Alot of macroalgae, coraline starting to cover the back wall. I'm going to be moving these guys into a 40gallon breeder and will be starting to try Corals/anemones. (it will be a while before I start adding those, gotta piece together the equipment.)
I thought this filter was menat for tanks up to 40gal? Are you sure 280gph isn't enough filtration? I haven't had any problems with this tank since it's been running.

I think that this could work but you will need an overated skimmer and lots of live rock. Lots of water movement as well! Fuzzys are very shy and to be honest will be rarely seen so a tank all by himself with no shrimp (snacks) is not going to offer you much the way of viewing. Fuzzys are also one of the harder lions to get to eat frozen but it is possible.

I think that your set up is great. I have a 20 gallon only filtration is live rock and penguin biowheel filter. I have a dwarf fuzzy and a small yellow tang and my system runs great no matter what people on this sight tell me, Never had any problems with my water.I have had this set up going for a few months with no problems. Dwarf Fuzzys are not shy at all. Mine actualy begs for food when ever i look at my tank and is always out swimming around. It takes a few weeks for them to get to know you and at first they just sit around not moveing at all but soon they will start swimming around and begging for food.I feed mine live goast shrimp some people are able to feed theres on frozen foods but mine wont.I think they are great fish and you sound like you have a great setup.

20 is awfully little to be sticking your hands in there with him. i would get something a little bigger. or get a temporary cell for him when you have to do maintenance. but dont listen to me i have only been hit by a lionfish once.
if he gets you they say run your hand under hot water. heck all i could do was yell scream and cuss. really hot water would not help go to emergency room they have these things called vicodin.
