Hello Again to everyone. I have asked a lot of questions lately and you all have been great. For so long I thought I was a professional, until know. With my first smaller non-aggressive tank things are different and I am a newbie again. I have a 20G tall with 6 tiger barbs, 1 Chinese Algae Eater, and 1 Raphael Catfish. I purchased the Raphael Catfish a month ago and I never see him eat. I know that they are nocturnal and I know that some people don't see them for months. Last night was a rare sighting of him sitting there in between my strawberry rock for an hour. Whether it's flakes, algae pellets, or catfish pellets he just looks at them. Is he eating?? Is how they are, feeding off leftovers when I am sleeping? Any advice from people that have owned a Raphael catfish is much appreciated. I am upgrading to a 90G in a while but that's another story.

Sorry I can't respond to the question about your Raphael, but as a relative noob I inadvertently bought a CAE (only one in tank, and the employee told me it was an SAE). Next morning one of my fish had a pectoral fin nibbled off, and was dead by the time I got to work (all before I knew about quarantining and having a hospital tank). Took it back the next day and traded it in on a mystery snail. They are aggressive fish, aren't too good at algae clean-up, and get even more aggressive as they get older (not all are so aggressive so young). Just my two taters' worth!! Good luck with the tank!!!!

Thanks. I know they are aggressive. I have a semi-aggressive tank with the Tiger Barbs, CAE, and Catfish. Thanks for the advice anyway. My brother wants the CAE when it gets bigger. He has a 75GL with cichlids.

I have in excess of 30 raphael cats...I rarely see mine eat...long story short, if he is still alive after a month, he is eating something.
