Hi to all.
If anyone remembers, I have a 35g Hex tall and am doing a fishless cycle right now. I have to change the 18 w fixture that came with it (it's a perfecto hood) by changing the top to glass and I found a compact fixture that would give 65 w total. Is that enough for plants?
Also, that fish place catalog is where I intend to purchase the light and I also noticed that they sell plant kits for 30 gallon tanks, like the riverbed set, they are shipped within 24 or so hours. Has anyone ordered plants from them, and if so were you satisfied with the plants? I live in NJ and quite frnakly where I am at is limited for live plants options, Petsmart or Petco are really my only choices. Any recommendations?
Thanks

That Pet Place is really good, my co-worker used to live down the road and he used to go there all the time for his pet needs...

You can probably grow low-light plants (java moss, java fern, anubias, some cryptocorynes, maybe hornwort). Although theoretically you have 1.8 watts per gallon (low light) your tank is also tall--therefore the light you do have won't easily reach the bottom of the tank where the plants are.

If you do end up using this light, you can float the java moss and hornwort, and tie the anubias and java ferns to driftwood or decorations so that they're up higher in the tank and closer to the light.

If it's a compact fluorescent fixture, it should have no problem penetrating to the depths of a hex tank. You have plenty of choices for plants in the low to medium range, including some more colorful plants like ludwigia repens and rotala rotundifolia.
