Is it cheaper to make your own aquarium?

I'm thinking of getting a 20 gallon aquarium, is it cheaper to buy it or make it? :huh:

for smaller tanks...and specially if you've never done it before...you can probably buy them cheaper, and with less hassle

Much cheaper to buy them then make them. You can find used tanks for cheap from places like craigslist. I just got a 50 gal with filters, lights, heater, rock, plants, and decor for free.

big tanks are the only ones really worth building. i have picked up a 100gal tank for $100. the only reason i would build a 20 gal tank is if i wanted a unique design or as a learning experience when you want to build a bigger tank.
