SB depth??

In everything but the 10, I ran about 4-6 inches of sand, a bit deeper in the back.

If you've got a sand substrate I would stay with the 1 inch and increase depths where needed ie: for plant roots or hill type landscaping. 4-6 inches seems a bit extreme, do you want to see fish playing or sand?

no offence meant orion girl, I ROFLMAO everytime I read that bit about ,

"You've lost a lot of blood.

Fortunately, we were able to find most of it."

4-6 inches is for the denitrifying bacteria and other sand dwelling critters that come in on live rock, this will give you nitrate free aquaria.

To calculate how many pounds of sand you will need, figure out how many square feet of floor space your tank has, and use 10ilbs per square foot to get about an inch of substrate.
