1 of my guppies just gave birth to 15-20 fry today while I was out playing lazer tag. I only have a rough number because it is really hard to count that many fish when they all look the same.

The only problem here is that in 1 week I am going away for a month and I won't be able to take care of them. I really hope my brother can do a better job than he does with his betta... :(

I think I saw some "one week feeder" in some pet shops. I haven't tried them though....

I think maybe she is done now. There are around 40 fry I'm guessing, I can possibly count all of them. Now my other female is next. She also will be giving birth any day now. But I don't know if I'll use the trap for her. 40 guppies is way more than I have room for. Looks like I'll be taking them to the LFS when I get back from Alaska. Who all has done that? How does it work?

In the meantime, since I will be gone a month, I have a 2.5 gallon tank. Will it be enough for housing the fry until I get back? Because that's all I have.

I ended up with around 25 fry. Yes a 2.5 will be fine for now, they're small and the bio load isn't much with them. I figure I can use 'too many babies' as an excuse to get another tank....or two. lol Hubby can't argue when its for infants ya know.

Final update: 30

So that brings my total up to approx. 70 fry. Tomorrow I am going to have to convert my sister's old hermit crab tank into a fish tank. Because one 2.5 will not hold 70 fish no matter how small they are.

Hey when I get back from Alaska I get to have fun buying new tanks to raise guppies in!!!
