I have a Seaclone protein skimmer that is roughly a year old. Lately, I've noticed that the brown filter fills up with algae and collapses. This is a problem because there's no vortex in the protein skimer, hence not enuf circulation. Do I need a new filter or is there a way to fix this problem?

I spent three weeks trying to get my SeaClone to work and finally gave up. Fortunately, PetCo took it back and I bought a CoralLife Super Skimmer (which is freaking huge compared to the SeaClone) from Dr. Fosters at the same price as the SeaClone (about $128.00 with shipping).

My advice, take it down, clean it out and start over. Or, buy a different model and start over. Someone may have better advice then that, but my CoralLife is already working after only 4 days while my SeaClone never did.

Just my two cents.

i agree. you might as well replace it now.
