40 gallon cichlid tank

i posted a while back about getting a 30 gallon tank and since then i decided to shell out some more cash and get a 40 gallon tank what would be some interesting and colorful cichlids i could keep in a tank that size the more i could have in there the better but i would settle for say a couple medium sized fish if possible. i appeciate all of you feedbak.

do you like firemouths? are you more interested in south and central american species, or maybe a mbuna tank?
 
I'm more a SA guy.

I like the species..lots to choose from.

can set up a biotope tank with a 40..plants, driftwood..some catfish(bristlenose) rams, keyholes, angels, maybe a geo..theres a few options
