I just set up a 29 gallon, all I have in there so far is about 45 pounds of live rock. I am going to put new lights on, would it better to go for 30" power compacts that are 130 watts with LEDs or a 36" power compact fixture that is 192 watts with LEDs. The 130 is on the low end of the watt per gallon scale with only about 4.5 but the 192 has over 6.5. Is that too much light? I was really only thinking of keeping fish, inverts and some soft corals. Everything says they are easier, thought it would be better since this is my first salt tank. What do you guys think? Thanks.

go with the higher output. Though watts/gallon is not really a good measurement as it depends on depth etc of your tank. The 196 will let you keep a wider variety of things than the 130. Get the absolute best lighting you can afford as you will no doubt want to upgrade later once the bug bites you. This is the one area you do not want to cheap out on.
