I've read that this is a brackish fish but some people keep it in freshwater and they do fine. Does anyone have actual experience with these fish? Also, what other fish are compatible to keep in a community tank?

The eggs are laid on broad leaved plants. Though the Glass Fish is easy to breed, their offspring is quite hard to raise.

Breeding: Not Hard. The Glass Fish should be kept in water with two teaspoons of salt per 12 litres for two to three months prior to breeding. Why? Are we making Glass Fry Pickles? Brackish water is not just NaCl. It's made with marine salt.
Thick and salty != healthy fish
If they live in brackish occassionally, then make the water more brackish-like: HARDER. Adding salt will just give you thick, salty water and that is not brackish at all.
I hate places that perpetuate that stupid salt myth.

Hello, I have 2 glassfish in my tank and they get along with the other fish but one type. It might be due to the fact I just added some and they are not liking there area getting used. The ones they seem to have a problem with at the moment are the Harlequin Rasbora but only when they get into his area of the tank otherwise he leaves them alone. elow are they type of fish I have with my Glassfish.
Bleeding Heart Tetras
Gold Barbs
Pristella Tetras
Harlequin Rasbora
Pepper Cory
By the way mine is a painted glassfish. I found out to late but do not buy them if you find them. It is very cruel what they do to "Paint" the fish. The neon effect is not natural but injected with needeles.
Hopes this helps alittle.
