Any ideas on a clean up crew/ scavenger (group or individual) for going in with a jaguar cichlid?

Virtually nothing, most jags do not tollerate other fish in their tanks unless its one of the opposite sex, and even then its risky.

i think that you would be ok if you got a pleco..they are a very tough fish. just make sure you him at a size similer to or bigger than your jag. i dont know how big you tank is but large hardy catfish will work to just give em some place to hid!!! oh and by the way i have a jag, oscar, and jack in a 150 gal and there is only the occasional mishap. they usually get along fine....but i would put money on it its a rare occurance

pleco is far from a cleanup crew, if anything it will make things worse. you and the filtration are the cleanup crew. if anything has a chance its a Synodontis that grows up with the jag.

Get some Malaysian Trumpet snails, they stay hid in the substrate during the day and venture out at night. They'll do a decent job of cleaning up any uneaten food and algae.

I have a 150g with 1 manganese(jag), 1 jack, 2 blood parrots, 1 chocolate, 1 elephant nose, 1 honduran redtip, 2 severum, 2 clown loaches and a bunch of big tetras and rosy barbs for schooling. I have more caves and hiding spots than fish... That is the key i think... I have seen many fights and most were territorial. The more plants i put in the better there tollerance for eachother grew also...
