My wife decided to buy me a couple of fish for fathers day a Leporinus and what seems to be a spotted climbing perch. Now I need to know if i am going to be able to house these guys ...I have seen the Leporinus in the store and they say it will get 6 inches but reasearching on web says 1 ft
Guess ill just tell ya my tanks and see what you think
(they are in quareenteen right now )
55 gal
1 gold guarami
3 opaline guarami
9 tiger barbs
2 upside down cats
6 neons
2 paradice guarami
6-7 otto cats

180 gal
4 tinfoil barbs
2 green terrors
4 parrot fish
3 nicarauguans
2 pictus cats
9 synodontis cats (get about 4 inches from what ive read )(false cuckoo)
1 yellow lab
1 julie
(yes i know its a bad mix but I inherited them with the tank )
It also had 4 malawi eye biters that i sold to a lfs
so far no problems but im watching

so can i keep these guys or not ? they are bot cool fish and i would like to make it happen but will return them if I really need to

Lepernious Faciatious, I have them and they get over 6 inches, Long tube like fish with Black Up and Down bars like a tiger barb. I have 7 of them, Let me know if you need pictures or info with mine

yeah thats the fish ...petstore says 6 inches i think but internet says 12 inches either way which tank should i put them in ? (see above )

They do get to 12". If you check here you'll find pixs of a 55g tank somewhere that a newbie inherited. Had almost or full grown leo and several other fish in it. Leo looked too big for the tank. If I get a chance I'll look for it and post it here.

It's in a 150g tank and it looks CRAMPED. Sheesh. 180g for SURE.

ok i guess ill put him in the 180 ..anyone know how fast they grow ?

also any advice on the climbing perch ??

Growth rates are always hard to fathom since most people don't keep large fish in the proper sized tank.

The guys post said that the tank was at least 4 years old, so it's most likely that the leo is at least 4 years old, but I'd say probably younger.

Few other links I read also said they were aggressive. Worth noting.
