Currently im looking to either the Red Sea Fish pHarm Fresh Care Multi-Test for Freshwater Aquariums or the Mardel Master Test Kit

any suggestions to which one i should get? even if not listed here

preferably one that comes all in a kit and is available at the LFS or at PetCo

thanks

Well the lady at the petstore said Mardel was a really good brand but make sure you get PH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, hardness, alkalinity all tested. I would get Mardel if I were you but frankly it doesn't matter. I have Jungle and they work fine. Also you can find info at freewebs.com/mgplivebaerers or email at mgplivebaerers@yahoo.com if you have anymore questions about fish. I hope this helps!

I use the "Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master Test Kit". It contains ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and high PH tests. I'm happy with it.

I use the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master Freshwater Test Kit. You can go to the Petsmart website and print out the page for it (they sell if for 13.50 online), take it to a store, and get it for that price instead of the 26 they charge for it in the stores.

AP, same as most people on here. With the nitrate, just take the number it gives you and -10 off it. That'll give you a ballpark.

Stay away from Mardel and any other test strips. They're not accurate and bloody expensive. The AP Master Kit will last you at least a year.

thanks for the suggestions, do you think Petland Discounts will carry the AP master test kit? I've decided to order most of my stuff on PetCo.com and they do not carry the Master Testkit, thanks

BigAlsOnline.com

Darn good prices and they carry the kits. I've ordered more than a bit of stuff from them.

Petland Discounts has the kit on their web site:

http://www.petlanddiscounts.com/detail.asp?product_id=283678

Call the store and see if they have any in stock. That kit, though, is 6$ more than at Big Als.

I like them a lot, but I do not use them exclusively because they do not have overnight shipping. That's a biggie with me.

When I order something on line most times I usually want it yesterday, not a week later UPS time.

They DO have great customer service, though.

Other places I normally buy from are:

That Pet Place:

Great price on the AP kit there. I have used their customer service and helped them correct some "bad" rainbowfish information on their site. They were very good about it.

PetSolutions.com, Costs more than Big Als, but has quicker shipping

I haven't used their customer service.

Drs Foster and Smith:

Oh, best price yet, $14.99

I use F&S a lot. They have overnight shipping and a good range of products. Excellent customer service for the most part. I have also bought live fish and plants from their other site. They are usually more pricey than other sites, but sometimes (like now) you find a winner.
