I'd be more concerned in regards to the parasites they would introduce to your tank.

yes, why I put "ect." there!

niether, My opinion is if they can't be bred in captivity (like many marine fish) they have to be wild caught, plain and simple. However, many fish are not suitable for captivity, and should not be bought unde any circumstance. Them being caught in the first place, you can not really do much about, other than spread the word that they should not be bought and follow your own advice.

Okay, barring parasites et al and IF I could get to Irian Jaya and IF the government would let me in and IF I didn't get killed in the process and IF I didn't die on safari, yes, I would bring back some wild caught bows :D

Why? Because many of the bows are becoming extinct. Many have not even been discovered yet. More than many are endangered. And because I love rainbowfish.

BTW, I have a tank of F1/W affinis and they are cool :D

I personally believe you should introduce 'wild' caught fish.

after an extensive quarantine and treatement to rid the parasites.

re-introducing 'wild' genes back into the captive gene pool of the aquarium world..is a good thing.

''keep in min many of the fish we see in the LFS are not the best of the bunch(so to speak).
