I'm cycling my tank with Bio Spira. I have 5 Rosboras, and two of them "mated" yesterday. I have read that it's difficult to get them to breed, but they were, without a doubt, performing the whole process.. as i've read it's done. Some of it was on the underside of my broadside plants, but most of the eggs are on the back of the spray bar.

However, I think they're doomed. These are not the only fish, and the Nitrites are at .5(mini cycle, ammonia is at 0).

Even if they do hatch and the nitrites don't kill them, they'll be eaten. I'm NOT going to remove the fish during cycling. At least I know that these guys will breed... eventually... and I'm encouraged that they're happy enough the with water condition to do this. I've read they like soft acidic water. Water IS soft, but the PH is 7.0

My rasboras breed all the time and lay eggs on the undersides of the anubias leaves. I've not seen any fry and don't think I will with SAE in the tank. They just vacuum up the eggs. The others -- rummys and silver dollars -- would make short work of the rest.

Yes, the water is on the soft side, however the pH is around 8.2. They obviously don't care about pH, eh?
