I was about to post yesterday to ask if you thought my Mom and Dad Salvini ate their 1st spawn. I found hundreds of eggs on June 12th and a couple of hours later when I thought to take a picture, there were hardly any left. I kept looking to see if I could find where they hid them and I never could find them. I decided just yesterday that they must have eaten them, because I read where some cichlids would abandon their young and then eat them because they were ready to mate again. I have the parents in a tank alone, so I knew nothing else had eaten them. I walked in the door this morning and looked in the tank and saw 2 little fry swimming around, I was so excited. On further inspection I found about 20, I was even more excited. I ground up some flake food for them and kept checking on them. About an hour later I decided to take a picture of them and found hundreds. I am now so very excited. I have only been keeping cichlids one month on the 16th. Since this is my 1st spawn, I can use any and all advice. How long should I leave them with the parents?

This is Kurt on the outside and Goldie on the inside of their Toad House and their 1st babies.

Thanks, they are tiny little things maybe 1/8 of an inch long, just a guess, but very tiny. Mom and Dad appear to be doing a good job, they are keeping most of them in the Toad House, very few wander off. Kyle, I am sure I will be getting rid of some of them, I'll let you know. I am inexperienced , you are right and I hope they will live.
