Hello, I have a 40g , I have 2 Bala Shark, 2 Tiger Barb, 2 Green Tiger Barb, 1 Red-Tailed Black Shark, 2 Schwartz's Cory, 2 Dalmatian Molly, So what you guys think? I want to add more colorful fish like African Cichlids, But I cannot find nothing close to those colors, I'm new to this hobby maybe 3 month, can you guys help me what fish I can add? all my fishes getting along, sometimes Red-Tail is aggressive , I'm using Rena xp2 filter and I put salt in the water, my ph is 7.2
:help:

Do not buy any more fish.

Get rid of the bala's and red tail shark.

Stop using the salt.

You really need to start research on the whole concept of fish compatability...Adding things willy-nilly by what you like in color or such is not a great idea for the fish....You already have a heavier bio-load than your tank can handle and you're looking to add fish that will kill your remaining stock...There should be posts in the Newbie forum advising on fish selection that will get you up to speed on what to be looking for...

I second what they both said as well as DO NOT BUY THE AFRICAN CICHLIDS

Please get rid of the Bala Sharks. They grow to over a foot long and prefer to be in groups of 5 or so. The red tailed shark is probably OK, he will only get to be 5" or so and can't be kept with others of his kind due to aggressiveness. Also, your tiger barbs should be kept in a minimum school of 6 otherwise they will start picking on other fish. Personally I wouldn't keep mollies with barbs as the barbs are notorious fin nippers and semi-agggressive, while the mollies are placid and have longer fins just inviting to be nipped. I am not familiar with the corys so I will leave the opinions on those to others.

I am still very new to fishkeeping (just over a month) but one thing I have figured out, read up on your fish before you buy. Below are some websites I have been using for fish compatibility. As with just about anything in fishkeeping, there are differences in opinion as to what can be kept with what, but these are a good guideline as well as the fish profiles here and on aquafacts.com.
