I'M cycling a 20 gallon tank with four danios.MY filter is a penguin with biowheel.I have had the fish in the tank for five weeks now.I have ammonia in the tank for four weeks now.the ammonia levels are at 1.0PPM.I have made small 5-10% water changes from time to time to keep ammonia from getting to high.My problem is there is no bacteria growing.Nitrite levels are at 0PPM.This is a along time for a tank to cycl.Why is it taking so long.

What are you nitrate and pH readings in the tank, please?
Do you know what the KH of your tap water is?
What are you using to test the water? Strips? Liquid?

Are there any live plants in the tank? They can affect the cycling process, particularly the appearance of nitrites.
