i went out to my wildlife pond yesterday, and decided that afew of the logs round the edge needed lowering. so i got my spade, took out the logs that needed the work on, and started deepening their holes where they rest. (the edge of my pond is surrounded by logs - it looks good, well, did).

well, when i was digging i discovered about foot and half of spare liner right round the edge, and thought that, since the pond is (or was) quite small, i would extend it a bit. so out came all the logs (much to my mums suprise...) and in went the spade to uncover all the spare liner. after alot of digging, alot of mud (and alot of showers...) i had extended, and deepened in places, my pond. unfortunately, in the process alot of mud ran into the existing pond water, which i have now drained, but i now have a mud-covered liner. i have got the worst of it off, but i am having trouble thinking of a way to get rid of the rest. i think i am just going to have to wait until the whole pond has dried, then just brush it up - unless any of you have any better ideas?

oh, and if you think that extending a pond in 2 days is quick, then you obviously havent seen me work once i get going....looks good now, only muddy in places and empty of water and plants. i will post a pic when its complete.
thanks for any help.

If you have a small pump then you could just wash down the liner with the hose.... the pump being at the deepest part of the pond... might take a few rinses to get most of it out if there's alot... the muck left that the pump can't get out just use a small plastic shovel to remove...

I'm assuming there's nothing in the pond but plants at the moment....

i have more drawbacks...i dont have a hose - i use the old fashioned watering can (keeps you fit...). also, since it is a wildlife pond, i dont have a pump in it...and the pond is in the far back of my garden, way too far back for any cables to reach to power the pump. thanks for suggestion thou, but i may have to make do with the broom....
