Pro phyll

Having never had much luck with aquatic plants i thought I would buy some nutrients to add. I therefore bought pro phyll online but reading the small print it says that filter media such as carbonated charcoal (like in my filter) has a negetive effect on it working? SO it looks like I have bought a duff  :duh: Any suggestions?

Does the bottle list the ingredients? I did a search on it, and couldn't find what it contains. That may be helpful in determining what exactly the carbon may absorb. If there are some sort of chemicals in the product, I would be hesitant to put it in my tank.

You could take your carbon out. If it has been in the filter for longer than 3 weeks, I wouldnt worry about it, it's useless after that time period anyways. Carbon is not necessary to have in your filter unless you are removing meds, tannins or odor from the water, and a few other things that I can't think of atm. The fine print says this because the carbon may absorb something that is in the pro phyll, thus making it work less effectively.

Actually, unless the carbon is the really expensive type, it will lose its effectiveness in less than a week.

To echo blueiz25, you don't really need carbon anyhow and it will remove the very nutrients you are trying to add to the tank.

IMO ditch the carbon and feed the plants ;)
