In a few weeks I'll be looking to add a school of tetra to my 20 gallon tall which currently houses 6 bronze cories. This will be my first time with tetras so I don't want something super hard to keep (or hard find in the stores). I'd like a type that will tend more towards schooling, grows less than 2 inches or so, and is not likely to harass the cories at all.

Any suggestions for my research? If you could post the type of tetra and the appropriate number to stock for this tank, I'd much appreciate it.

glowlights, neons, cardinals, black skirts. these are all just the tip of the iceberg for good, tough, common tetras that would do well any tank 10g and up. may I suggest reading a book with a great species profile section so you can select one from the myriad of tetras? in the end, its up to your personal preference.

or green flame tetra or orange von rio tetra... or lemon tetra... i like the first two personally, but its your preference in color, they are all fun!

I'll have to "window" shop at the store - normally I don't pay the tetras much mind at all, although I did like the look of the black skirt tetras I saw the other day.

My main concern is to get something that will not bother my cories.

Any ideas how many 2" or less sized tetras I could add to the tank without overcrowding? They would be the only residents along with the cories.

Yea the von rio or the lemon are the mildest to say the least... i just had to return some minnors and some buenos aires tetra because they were nipping the tails of my cichlids!!! in a 20 i dunno maybe 6
