I have 2 months old sw tank and I believe my tank has been gone through the cycle time. pH = 8 Nitrite = 0 Ammonia = 0 Nitrate = 5ppm Salinity 1.023 Temp 80F. I don't know why every time I add fishes in, they died next couple days. I am really frustrating now. I change 10% of water every week but fish died still died. What do I need to do? My husband gave me a nickname "fish killer". PLEASE HELP. I want to show my husband that I am not a FISH KILLER.

Could be a lot of factors in play. What do you have in your tank? Type of rock, sand, fish, filtration, ect. Maybe the fish was unhealthy at the place you got it from?

What's your water source? RO? I'd have that checked. If you're using tap then how do you pretreat it? Do you use Prime? Or some other declorinators?

What about acclimating your new fish? How do you do that?

Plus, what kind of fish have you tried? That can be one of the biggest factors.

I tried damdels, clown, and butterfly. I have 25 lbs rock and 25 lbs ls. The tank I bought is built in filter including skimmer. I use RO and ocean mix salt. It doesn't matter what water I used because I bought water from lfs, fishes still died. About acclimating, I floated the bag in the tank from 20 to 30 min, then opened the bag and filled with 1 cup of water inside the tank. Waited for 5 min then filled another cup. Did that until the bag full. Dumped half of the water then repeated adding 1 cup at a time until it fulled again. Net and release the fish into the tank.

Damsels are pretty hardy fish and almost impossible to kill lol. Your tank sounds good. You got me beat! Try buying fish at a different place is all the advice I can give you now.

I did try fishes from other lfs but still died. HELP. Thanks. I plan to bring my water to lfs to test this weekend. Will let you guys know.

I am so sorry to hear that!!! You might want to try this.......

Turn your skimmer off.
Add Fritz Turbo Start 900 and let it run in your system for 72 hours.
Turn the skimmer back on.
Test the water.
If the water is fine, try adding few damsels.

For more information on Fritz Turbo Start 900

We used Fritz Turbo Start 900, 30 LBS of live rocks and live sand to start our 75g tank. We have 2 volitans lionfish, 1 yellow tang, 1 naso tang, 1 chainlink moray eel and 1 dragon wrasse.

To help the fish, we add kent's garlic xtreme to their food.

I hope this will work for you. Good luck!!!
