Here the whole Story, I go Fishing Alot, i'm tired of buying $25 worth of Fish and just dumping in the River when i'm done, So
A Friend gave me a 300 Gallon Water Tank (Horse Tank) I got 2 Filter Systems for at Walmart my Freinds gave a 1000 Gallon Bio Filter system i pick up and 600 GPH Water Pump

I can get rid of the Chlorine and Chloramines with Tetra Pond that Leaves Ammonia What is the best way to get rid of this? After 4 days the fish start to Die.
I tested the Water here in Omaha even after adding Tetra pond the Ammonia in the water is at Harmful Range 4 days it's at Danger

I think you can see what i want to do

Any help
Thanks
I'm a newbie

the biofilter needs to establish a colony of nitrifying bacteria. they are the way to get rid of ammonia. you do this by adding a few fish (maybe a dozen small feeder goldfish if thats what you go fishing with) then after they have been in there for a couple weeks slowly add more and more fish so the colony of bacteria can develop with the increased load of fish. then when you need fish just take some out, add the extra back to the trough after fishing. once the system is established you shoudl also do water changes. draining out baout half the water every week then refilling (being sure to add a dechlorinator if you are on city water) and you should have a decent holding tank for your feeders/bait.

the bio filter i got is from a freind he unhook it from his pond we hooked it up to mine within 10 mins it should have a great colony in it we added more Bacteria
He has 30 large fish and 1000's of small fish.

I do need a water chiller anyone specs on one to make my own?
it's been very hot here latley the water temp keeps getting into the 80's i don't liek that seems to me thats when they start dieing
I have been adding 3, 5 gallon buckets of frozen water everyday
