Which of these would you select. The Aquacler 300 is very very quiet, but I want all the filtration that I can get. I'm considering swapping it for a 500.. would this be too much power?

I'm also considering swapping for a Eheim 2213 canister.

Does anyone know what the spray bar is like? It a spray head? or a spray bar(a bar with multiple holes). The Fluval doesn't have a "bar" and I find the current is too powerful.

Is the 2213 that much better than an aquaclear? Quieter? Better to configure?

This will be a planted tank, I'm not sure what will be stocked in it, but I'm sure I'll be pushing it... the fish won't be as messy as I'll be borderline for my surface area.

Thanks for your help..

For a planted tank, I would go with the ehiem, this way it doesn't disturb the surface to much and gas off the CO2. For a fish only tank, go with one of the aquaclears, wich size depends on what kind of fish you want to keep.

Canisters are gennerally better than power filters (but both are adequete), and ehiems are said to be silent.

They SAID that about the Fluval, and while it is quiet, it's certainly not silent! I've gotten used to it though. I tried TWO Emporer 280's first, and I had a noisy impeller on both, very noisy and lots of water noise, with or without the biowheel. I was very disapointed the Aquaclear is much more silent, and I like the media options... but for $30 more I can get a canister!
The aquaclear has a rattle on when you put the top on it, but I've managed to eliminate that noise...

One note: True disturbing the water sets off co2, but does it matter since I'm not going to be doing co2 injection?

I don't have an Eheim classic, but I have a bunch of 2026s and 2224s and they are QUIET. I have to touch them to make sure they are running ;)

They have a spray bar with multiple holes.

Love my Eheims.
