Keeping Goldfish Nice

I know that goldfish are supposed to pick on each other as it's mating behavior but are they supposed to do that when competing for food as well? Every time I try to put two together and the bigger one chases the smaller one around. :help:
 
What size is your aquarium? Goldfish tend to be nippy and territorial towards others if the tank is too small.

Unfortunately, 10 gallons is all I have to work with. I separated the two.
 
I think that the minimum is 30 gallons for a single goldfish. You might want to consider getting yourself a bigger tank. :)
 
I had two goldfish in a ten gal. tank and now they are in a 29 gal. tank and until the bigger one got sick it always picked on the smaller one, esp. during feeding time.
 
I had a small one picking on the big one. The small one is gone now. Fishy heaven :>)
