I just bought a new tank and it came with about 80 pounds of live rock and one mushroom coral. I preveusly had a 20 gallon salt water but it was fish only. I have got the whole thing set up and everything is doing good except the Mushroom coral looks funny. It has white stuff comming off of the stem. other than that it looks okay but im not sure if it is dead and if i should take it out? please help

How new is your tank? If it has not cycled yet then you are probably high in ammonia and yes, it could be dead. Sometimes they let out muscous but Ive never seen it to be white. Usually its brown. Test you water parameters. If ammonia or nitrites are high then chances are its not good.

my green mushrooms near enough every other day let out a little white stuff i think its a way that corals tell other corals there in the area ect i would not worry about it if thats the only problem because if it was dying it would not be out.....

I'd leave it alone. Sometimes they give of this curly thready looking stuff because they're disturbed or something. Then again, maybe your tank just needs to cycle. I'd still leave it alone. If you have no other corals, it won't hurt. If you really want to know, smell it!

Good Luck!
