whats up everybody! Lately Ive been thinking of replacing my pearl guarami
because hes been eating alot of my soft plants. Especially my crypts, which dont grow all that fast to begin with. My only problem has been thinking of a fish that could fill the space he leaves behind. This fish would be kind of like a single show fish for a 55g. What do you guys think?

stick him in an empty 40oz of Old E (Im going to trade him to the store) :duh:

I love perl gourami's

I love perl gourami's too, northstar, but I like think I'd like an asthetically pleasing lil fishy tank more ;) I wish there was a way to get good, clean, pearl gourami fun without the blatant disrespect (and all-in-all bad form) to me and me greenery. hmmm...

Sometimes friends move away, it's a fact of life. Maybe the gourami can set up a myspace and they can keep in touch. He'd have pictures in his album of him with his 40oz. and all his new friends :hi:

To my mind fish are my friends and such be treated as such and not discarded because they dont quite fit. Cant you house him in a smaller tank with plenty of rocks and if need be fake plants instead of dumping him back at the store?

I understand psilo, for sure. My fish are my buddies too, but having aquariums is my hobby. I feel that exchanging a fish at a good fish store (they are out there) is morally acceptable. If I didnt exchange the fish I would probably feed it to my friends wolf tetra. One thing is for sure, Im not setting up a tank just for the pearl gourami.

Has anyone thought of the original question? Whats on everyones mind as far as big, centerpiece fish that are community capable. Does anyone know of a full-size gourami that doesnt eat soft plants?

if you lived closer i would consider it, I love my gourami

Well I just don't agree with that at all. I love my gouramis, and would never just exchange them because they were nibbling on a few plants. Get another tank and use fake plants. And it doesn't just have to be for the gourami, have it be for some other fish too.

Oh and its pearl gourami, not perl guarami.
